Iris Hollow and her two older sisters are unquestionably strange. People find them disturbingly intoxicating, unbearably beautiful, and inexplicably dangerous.
But now, ten years later, seventeen-year-old Iris Hollow is doing all she can to fit in and graduate high school on time--something her two famously glamourous globe-trotting older sisters, Grey and Vivi, never managed to do. But when Grey goes missing without a trace, leaving behind bizarre clues as to what might have happened, Iris and Vivi are left to trace her last few days. They aren't the only ones looking for her though. As they brush against the supernatural they realize that the story they've been told about their past is unraveling and the world that returned them seemingly unharmed ten years ago, might just be calling them home.
RECENSIONE:
Iris Hollow è una ragazza strana, ben diversa dalle sorelle globe-trotter Grey e Vivi. Le tre sono scomparse in una strada in Scozia quando avevano sette anni. Sono ritornate un mese dopo, senza ricordi, ma con delle strane caratteristiche: i loro capelli sono diventati bianchi, i loro occhi neri, e una fame insaziabile, ma non prendono peso.
Tuttavia, Grey scompare, e le sorelle rimaste cercano di trovarla seguendo degli indizi. Ma un strano serial killer le sta inseguendo, e un mondo misterioso le sta chiamando. Non andrò per il sottile. Grey, Iris e Vivi non sono più umane; sono delle changeling, bambine umane rimpiazzate con fate. Quella che era Grey, sentendosi in pericolo nel loro vecchio mondo, rapì le tre bambine, e salvò le sue sorelle uccidendo le bambine umane e scuoiandole, per poi indossare la loro pelle.
Gabe Hollow, il padre delle bambine, non era impazzito, ma aveva capito cosa era successo, e stava dando la caccia alle changeling. Infatti il serial killer magico era lui, e aveva dato anche una tomba alle piccole. In generale, un'ottimo romanzo. Sono stata trasportata all'interno di queste atmosfere dark fantasy meravigliose. Lo stile della Sutherland è evocativo.
