Recensione | Unearthed di Amie Kaufman e Meagan Spooner (ENG)

 Ciao a tutti booklovers, come state? Buon lunedì, il giorno peggiore della settimana. Oggi inauguriamo questa settimana di recensioni con Unearthed, di Amie Kaufman e Meagan Spooner, uno sci-fi in stile Indiana Jones.

When Earth intercepts a message from a long-extinct alien race, it seems like the solution the planet has been waiting for. The Undying's advanced technology has the potential to undo environmental damage and turn lives around, and Gaia, their former home planet, is a treasure trove waiting to be uncovered.

For Jules Addison and his fellow scholars, the discovery of an alien culture offers unprecedented opportunity for study... as long as scavengers like Amelia Radcliffe don't loot everything first. Mia and Jules' different reasons for smuggling themselves onto Gaia put them immediately at odds, but after escaping a dangerous confrontation with other scavvers, they form a fragile alliance.

In order to penetrate the Undying temple and reach the tech and information hidden within, the two must decode the ancient race's secrets and survive their traps. But the more they learn about the Undying, the more their presence in the temple seems to be part of a grand design that could spell the end of the human race...

RECENSIONE:

Quando l'umanità intercetta un messaggio da un'estinta razza aliena, tutto cambia. Accademici come Jules Addison la vedono come un'opportunità senza precedenti per studiare questa antica razza. Tombaroli come Amelia Radcliffe, invece, la vedono come un'opportunità per guadagnare. Giunti su Gaia, il loro pianeta d'origine, i due si ritrovano antagonisti, ma saranno obbligati a formare una fragile alleanza quando si aiuteranno a scappare da uno scontro pericoloso con altri tombaroli. 

 Questa civiltà, the Undying, ha un tempio (un po' in stile Prometheus, se lo avete visto), dove è nascosta la loro tecnologia. Jules e Mia dovranno collaborare per risolvere gli indovinelli, tradurre le iscrizioni e sopravvivere alle loro trappole. Tuttavia, più raccolgono informazioni, più si rendono conto che potrebbe esserci un grande disegno per mettere la parola fine sulla razza umana.

Lo stile della Kaufman e della Spooner è molto scorrevole come in These Broken Stars, anche se ho apprezzato più la coppia di Lilac e Tarver, piuttosto che Jules e Mia. I temi trattati sono molteplici; ho sempre amato l'archeologia, ma metterla con un twist fantascientifico mi ha fatto urlare dalla gioia. Alieni + Archeologia = un mix tra Indiana Jones, La Mummia e Alien.

Decisamente promosso.
