Recensione | Malibu Rising di Taylor Jenkins Reid (ENG)

  Ciao a tutti booklovers, oggi abbiamo la recensione di un libro che ho adorato, ovvero Malibu Rising, di Taylor Jenkins Reid.

Jay, on the other hand, is counting the minutes until nightfall, when the girl he can't stop thinking about promised she'll be there.

And Kit has a couple secrets of her own-including a guest she invited without consulting anyone.

By midnight the party will be completely out of control. By morning, the Riva mansion will have gone up in flames. But before that first spark in the early hours before dawn, the alcohol will flow, the music will play, and the loves and secrets that shaped this family's generations will all come bubbling to the surface.

Malibu Rising is a story about one unforgettable night in the life of a family: the night they each have to choose what they will keep from the people who made them . . . and what they will leave behind.

RECENSIONE: 

I libri di TJR sono sempre legati l'uno l'altro. Oggi, in Malibu Rising, parliamo della famiglia di Mick Riva, che se ricordate bene era uno dei mariti della nostra Evelyn Hugo.

Ora ci concentriamo sui suoi figli.

Nina è la maggiore, ed è una modella; Jay e Hud, uno un fotografo, l'altro un surfista, e Kit, la più piccola, che deve decidere ancora cosa fare della sua vita.

Nina deve lottare contro l'abbandono del marito, un giocatore professionista di tennis, che l'ha lasciata per Carrie Soto (la prossima protagonista di un libro di TJR), una tennista. Poi abbiamo Hud, che nasconde un segreto al fratello Jay, che attende la ragazza che ama al party più famoso, il loro.

E poi Kit, che nasconde anch'essa un segreto.

Le loro vita si mescolano all'interno di una sola notte, alla fine della quale la loro casa, la Riva Mansion, andrà a fuoco e in pezzi a causa di un incendio.

Ho amato profondamente questo romanzo, a partire dalla cover meravigliosa. Penso che sia il mio romanzo preferito di TJR, e che superi anche Evelyn e Daisy Jones.

Nina è quel genere di protagonista che ami e odi, perché è bella, talentuosa, è tutto quello che vorresti essere, ma nasconde dentro di sé una grande sensibilità.

Menzione speciale per i personaggi a Kit, perché TJR ci dice (e io sono d'accordo) che bisogna essere sempre sé stessi e non nascondersi.

Lo stile della Jenkins Reid è sempre superbo, e le pagine scorrono con piacere.

Su questa nota malinconica, chiudiamo la recensione.
