 Ciao a tutti booklovers, oggi recensiamo Down among the sticks and bones della McGuire, autrice di Middlegame, che non mi è tanto piaciuto ma che con EHAD mi ha convinto tantissimo!

RECENSIONE:

Jack e Jill, come Nancy, Cole, Onishi, sono cadute in un altro mondo. Per questo, vengono mandate a una scuola d'elitè, la Eleanor West's Home for Wayward Children, dove potranno riadattarsi alla vita normale. O almeno, questo è quello che la sua famiglia si augura. Eleanor West lo sa, anche lei è caduta da ragazzina e allora ha creato questo posto, questa "boarding school", dove aiutare altri bambini "caduti" come lei.

Dopo aver risolto gli omicidi, i ragazzi sono più rilassanti, ma una nuova, oscura minaccia si staglia all'orizzonte, e per sventarla le ragazzine si ritrovano a lottare nel mondo in cui sono cadute.

Down Among the sticks and bones è una moderna fiaba. Ho amato la scioltezza con cui la McGuire scriveva, e soprattutto l'idea, che mi ha ricordato Miss Peregrine (che devo ancora finire di leggere, shame on me). I personaggi sono molto tridimensionali, e c'è una buona rappresentazione della comunità LGBTQ + (qualcuno, non vi dico chi, è transessuale, qualcuno è asessuale, qualcuno bisessuale).

Ma soprattutto, si vede la cura con cui la McGuire ha creato i mondi e la storia. La componente mystery mi è piaciuta. Unico neo: è troppo corto. Ne volevo di più!
