RECENSIONE:

Alyssa Gardner fin da quando aveva dieci anni riusciva a sentire i sussurri dei fiori e degli insetti. Maledizione, o per gli altri malattia mentale, che ha colpito tutte le donne della sua famiglia, inclusa sua madre, Allison, rinchiusa da anni in un ospedale psichiatrico da quando aveva tentato di uccidere Alyssa.

In realtà, nulla è come sembra. Alyssa discende da Alice Liddell, che ha ispirato Lewis Carroll nel suo romanzo Alice nel paese delle meraviglie.

E Wonderland è vero. Solo che non è come nel libro. Grotteschi animali, fiori cannibali, e un Brucaliffo... irriconoscibile. Morpheus, questo è il suo nome, sarà la sua guida in Wonderland, insieme a Jeb, amico d'infanzia di Alyssa e suo amore segreto.

Per eliminare gli errori di Alice, Alyssa sarà sottoposta a dure prove, e scoprirà verità sul suo essere che non avrebbe mai sospettato.

Il libro può essere letto benissimo come uno stand-alone, anche se io consiglio l'intera trilogia, in quanto è deliziosamente dark. Lo stile della Howard è difficile, poiché molto dettagliato, quindi lo consiglio ai neofiti dell'0inglese in italiano, tradotto con il titolo "Il mio splendido migliore amico":

Uniche pecche le descrizioni degli ospedali psichiatrici, tirate troppo al limite, e il possibile insta-love e triangolo amoroso tra Alyssa, Jeb e Morpheus.
