Ciao a tutti booklovers, buon lunedì, che so essere il giorno più difficile della settimana. Per oggi la recensione di un libro molto hyped su TikTok, ma che a me non ha fatto impazzire.

RECENSIONE:
Questo è uno dei romanzi più hyped su BookTok, e come avrete capito, a me è piaciuto con riserve. Olive Smith è una dottoranda che non crede nelle relazioni sentimentali (AMORE = REAZIONE CHIMICA), ma la sua migliore amica, Anh, sì, che si è innamorata dell'ex di Olive, Jeremy.
Bene, Olive, visto che è un po' codarda (come me), deve fingere di essere fidanzata e nel panico bacia il primo uomo che le capita (Lara Jean Covey, sei tu?). Questo signorino è il dottor Adam Carlsen, un professore giovane ma molto antipatico, il cosiddetto tiranno dei laboratori di Stanford.
SPOILER: Adam è già innamorato perso di lei da secoli, e accetta la messinscena MOLTO VOLENTIERI.
Quando tuttavia la carriera di Olive è a rischio a causa di una conferenza andata male, Adam, che ha accettato di essere il suo finto fidanzato, la supporta, mandandola in confusione sui suoi sentimenti.
Il mio problema maggiore con questo libro è stato il fatto che nasce come fanfiction. Io non ho nulla contro la fanfiction (ho adorato The Ground Beneath Her Feet, su Wattpad, fanfiction su Draco e Hermione), ma vedere i Reylo, ship che non mi è mai piaciuta, in un libro e praticamente Adam Driver come prestavolto, da fan di Star Wars, mi ha fatto stare leggermente male. Odio i prestavolto (penso si fosse capito con Quattro - Il Risveglio).
EDIT - 2023: ehm, forse sono caduta anche io nel tunnel dei Reylo (scusa Anais del 2022).
Inoltre il romance mi ha lasciata un po' delusa; mi è sembrato il tutto un po' esagerato (Olive soprattutto), e la relazione tra i due mi è sembrata un po' troppo forzata (soprattutto la parte spicy). Inoltre Adam mi è leggermente sembrato blando, anche se davvero un tenerone.
Ultimo, la questione della sessualità di Olive, che potrebbe essere non asessuale ma demisessuale, l'ho trovata una tematica che a mio parere non è stata trattata bene nel romanzo.
In generale, un romanzo leggero e carino (anzi, bello), ma non abbastanza per entrare nei preferiti di tutti i tempi.
