Io già sono partita ridendo per il cognome della protagonista, e poi, considerato che gli altri libri della serie non mi sono piaciuti, mi sono messa a piangere. Ragazzi, io non capisco perché questa serie sia così overhyped. A me viene da piangere a pensarci. I protagonisti sono terribili, soprattutto quelli maschili, le ragazze sono marionette.

Davvero no.

Poi le bugie anche no in una relazione, la rovinano soltanto. Io penso solo che queste relazioni descritte dalla Huang siano tossiche. L'unica cosa che si salva sono le cover, davvero discrete e carine.

RECENSIONE:

Alice in Zombieland è diventato uno dei miei cult preferiti di Halloween. Alice Bell ha sempre avuto regole che le imponevano di non uscire di casa di notte, imposte da suo padre, considerato un pazzo.

La famiglia trasgredisce la regola per andare al saggio della sorellina Emma, ma passando accanto al cimitero è lì che tutti trovano la morte, eccetto Ali. Lei vede degli spiriti che divorano le anime dei suoi famigliari.

Dopo mesi, Ali si trasferisce dai nonni, ed è lì che incontra Cole Holland e la sua banda di teppisti. In realtà non sono neanche teppisti, ma cacciatori di zombie, ed Ali sta per entrare nella loro banda per vendicare la famiglia.

Lo stile della Showalter è troppo scorrevole e i capitoli si leggono con piacere. Certo, è pieno di cliché tra cui l'insta-love, ma il risultato è una lettura comunque godibile. Da non leggere se odiate l'insta-love.

RECENSIONE:

Ci troviamo in un futuro non specificato, dove umani e Lunari (alieni dalla Luna, o meglio, umani trapiantati sulla Luna con poteri) convivono... non in pace. Infatti, una piaga lunare, la Letumosi, imperversa sul pianeta, uccidendo molte persone. I Lunari, guidati dalla perfida Regina Levana, attendono di vedere i nemici indeboliti per conquistarli.

Se ben ricordate dal finale del primo libro, si scopre che Cinder in realtà è Selene Blackburn, la figlia della precedente regina lunare Channary e nipote di Levana. Per questo era immune alla letumosi.

Ora è stata dichiarata una pericolosa fuggitiva, ed è in carcere insieme a Thorne, un cadetto della Repubblica Americana che ha rubato una navetta. Insieme i due evadono.

Intanto, Scarlet Benoit si ritrova invischiata nei segreti di sua nonna Michelle, ex-pilota dell'aviazione europea, che riguardano proprio Cinder. La ragazza incontra poi Wolf, un combattente di strada, e i due si recano a Parigi per salvare Michelle, rapita dai Lunari.

Questo nuovo capitolo è ancora più avvincente del primo. Scarlet è una buona protagonista, ma quello che ha conquistato maggiormente il mio cuore è Thorne, troppo sarcastico e divertente. Kai si conferma però una bambola di pezza: solo verso il finale riesce a redimersi.

Attendo il terzo volume con ansia.

Sto leggendo The Ballad of Never After (amo profondamente Jacks, anche se è un antieroe) e Foul Lady Fortune di Chloe Gong, una lettura davvero top che mi sta piacendo moltissimo.

WHAT HAVE YOU FINISHED READING? (Che cosa hai finito di leggere?)

Ho finito di leggere Fire Study della Snyder che mi è piaciuto, anche se un po' datato; The Darkening di Sunya Mara, una lettura un poco mediocre; Demon in the Wood della Bardugo, triste ma fatto molto bene; Il Maestro e Margherita di Bulgakov, davvero top, e infine un saggio per l'università.

Mi butterò su Kingdom of the Feared della Maniscalco, finale della trashisshima Kingdom of the Wicked Series.

RECENSIONE:

Ci troviamo in un regno chiamato Ixia. Yelena è pronta per essere giustiziata per omicidio, ma le viene offerta una scelta. Morire o diventare un'assaggiatrice per il Comandante, rischiando comunque di morire. Yelena sceglie di diventare un'assaggiatrice. Tuttavia la giovane inizia a sviluppare poteri magici incontrollabili, mentre i ribelli minacciano di conquistare l'intera Ixia.

Sono consapevole che sia un fantasy del 2005, ma comunque è interessante notare come sia abbastanza interessante ed originale la premessa e l'esecuzione.

Yelena mi è piaciuta come protagonista, così come il suo love interest. Resto pronta per leggere il secondo libro

RECENSIONE:

Non c'è nulla da fare... questa serie purtroppo non é per me.

La verità è che gli uomini troppo possessivi non fanno per me... e Josh Chen non è da meno.

Se mi seguite, sapete delle mie disavventure con il protagonista maschile di Twisted Games, Rhys Larsen, che aveva detto una frase troppo sessista, misogina e denigratoria, davvero too much. Beh, Josh Chen è forse anche peggio, il che è tutto dire.

La protagonista principale, Jules, non mi è piaciuta (Josh non ve lo dico neanche), e in generale la trama mi è sembrata molto annacquata con moltoo, mooltoo spicy.

Ripeto, i demoni del passato non giustificano le azioni che poi andiamo a fare: lo so che è molto da moralista, ma è così.

Insomma, alla fine è un non-libro di romance erotica.

Manca un libro, che io, disgraziata, ho già preso e che quindi leggerò.
