Ho pianto tutte le mie lacrime ad Halloween... e sapete perché?

Hanno ucciso il mio personaggio preferito. Kat era troppo simpatica, e sapevo che doveva comunque morire, ma mi ha spezzato il cuore vedere Ali, Cole, e soprattutto Frosty, il suo fidanzato, piangere lacrime amare. Maledetta Camilla e il suo tradimento.

Considerato che sonp artita con un bello spoiler, direi che la storia mi ha coinvolto troppo emotivamente, che ne dite?

Lo Showalter ha fatto un ottimo lavoro con la storia, anche se c'erano forse troppe somiglianze con Resident Evil. L'Anima Corps la detesto seriamente.

So che c'è un quarto libro spin-off su Frosty e Camilla, ma non so se sono pronta.

SPOILER: Invece sì, e ho rivalutato molto Camilla.

 Ciao a tutti booklovers, oggi si parla di "Il Risveglio" di JR Ward, un libro troppo trash, non brutto, ma davvero assurdo.

RECENSIONE:

Il Risveglio è il primo libro della luuuuunghisssimaaaa serie "La Comfraternita del Pugnale Nero", che parla di vampiri.

Elizabeth "Beth" Randall è una giovane cronista di cronaca nera a Caldwell, un sobborgo di New York. Non ha mai conosciuto suo padre, Darius, che è un vampiro. Quando egli viene ucciso dice al suo capo e re, Wrath, di salvare ed aiutare usa figlia.

Wrath si innamora di lei, ovviamente, nonostante sia stato già promesso a Marissa, un'altra vampira.

Si potrebbe definire un libro porno con dei vampiri. Questo è. Non ne potevo più di vedere Beth che moriva dalla smania. E poi vogliamo parlare di quando letteralmente uno sconosciuto ti entra in casa e tu lo desideri? Io gli avrei tirato una padella in faccia onestamente.

Mi dicono dalla regia che la serie migliora tanto nel secondo e nel terzo. Io non so se continuerò. Magari sì.

RECENSIONE:

Alice in Zombieland, se non per alcune pecche, mi aveva stupito, e TTZG mi è piaciuto comunque. I cacciatori di Zombie stanno continuando a lottare, ma ci sono vari problemi.

Ali ha un dark side che sta venendo alla luce, e siamo nei guai. Inoltre la malattia di Kat, che non fa altro che peggiorare, e Cole che si allontana da lei non fa altro che peggiorare il tutto. La Anima Industries ha qualcosa di losco tra le mani, e io sono sempre più ansiosa di leggere la fine di questa serie.

Gena Showalter ha creato un'idea di zombie fantastica, che mi ricorda, per via della Anima, Resident Evil (l'Umbrella Corp). L'unica pecca sono forse i personaggi un po' troppo stereotipati.

RECENSIONE:

Sappiamo tutti bene cosa sia successo a Rosalind Lang alla fine di Our Violent Ends. Roma e Juliette sono morti per salvare la città, e dopo quattro anni, Rosalind è ancora qui. Perché lei non può morire.

Diventata un'assassina per la Cina, la donna deve fingersi la moglie di un'altra spia, Orion Hong, per cercare di mettere luce su una serie di omicidi a Shanghai. Solo che il mistero è ancora più profondo di quanto si aspettassero.

Non c'è niente da fare, Chloe Gong è diventata una dei miei top autori preferiti, essendo che ha preso cinque stelle in tutti i suoi romanzi.

Aspettavo la redenzione di Rosalind, e ho adorato il suo personaggio, così come quello di Orion.

L'ambientazione è favolosa, così come la sottotrama crime.

Davvero un ottimo libro, con tanto di finale bomba.

RECENSIONE:

Signa Farrow ha diciannove anni ed è stata cresciuta da alcuni Guardiani, che curavano più al profitto che al suo benessere. Gli ultimi suoi parenti sono gli Hawthorne, che vivono a Thorn Grove. La matriarca Lillian è morta, stroncata da una brutta malattia che ha coinvolto anche Blythe, la figlia.

Signa, dopo aver avuto l'apparizione del fantasma di Lillian, si convince che è morta avvelenata. Così comincia un intenso viaggio gotico, dove Signa si allea con niente altro che la Morte stessa.

Non so come descrivervi quanto abbia amato questo romanzo... è gotico, è meraviglioso. Avevo già letto qualcosa di Adalyn, ma questo romanzo ha un'ambientazione fantastica e i personaggi sono descritti con cura e risultano tridemnsionali.

Attendo Foxglove, il secondo, con ansia.

RECENSIONE:

Ci troviamo in un futuro non specificato, dove umani e Lunari (alieni dalla Luna, o meglio, umani trapiantati sulla Luna con poteri) convivono... non in pace. Infatti, una piaga lunare, la Letumosi, imperversa sul pianeta, uccidendo molte persone. I Lunari, guidati dalla perfida Regina Levana, attendono di vedere i nemici indeboliti per conquistarli.

Winter è la principessa della Luna. Ragazza bellissima, ancora di più della sua matrigna Levana, che la ha obbligata tramite condizionamento mentale a sfregiarsi il viso quando aveva solo dodici anni.

La ragazza aiuta il gruppo dei nostri a lottare per la propria libertà. Le nozze sulla Luna si avvicinano, e il tempo sta per scadere.

Questo volume, stranamente, mi è piaciuto di meno che del terzo, ma è stata comunque una lettura da quattro stelle piene. Non vi faccio spoiler sulla trama, la scoprirete voi.

Quello che posso dirvi è che Marissa Meyer ha creato un mondo davvero magico.

RECENSIONE:

Ci troviamo in un futuro non specificato, dove umani e Lunari (alieni dalla Luna, o meglio, umani trapiantati sulla Luna con poteri) convivono... non in pace. Infatti, una piaga lunare, la Letumosi, imperversa sul pianeta, uccidendo molte persone. I Lunari, guidati dalla perfida Regina Levana, attendono di vedere i nemici indeboliti per conquistarli.

Crescent Moon Darnel è un Guscio, ovvero una Lunare senza poteri. La perfida regina Levana, zia di Cinder, alias di Selene Blackburn, ha ordinato e messo in atto una politica che imponeva di uccidere tutti i Gusci... apparentemente. Infatti i Gusci come Cress sono stati imprigionati e usati come hacker o come cavie per la letumosi, malattia creata dai Lunari per soggiogare i terrestri

La ragazza ha cercato di avvertire Cinder e i suoi da un satellite in orbita nello spazio, finendo per essere salvata da loro, ma attirandoli a sua insaputa in un'imboscata.

Cress e Thorne, di cui è innamorata, finiscono in Africa, dove Thorne perde gli occhi a causa di un incidente nell'atterraggio, rimanendo cieco temporaneamente. Insieme i due dovranno fidarsi l'uno dell'altra. Intanto Wolf, Scarlet, imprigionata dai Lunari, e Cinder, insieme ad Iko e Kai, devono cercare di ricompattare il gruppo.

Intanto si unisce anche il dottor Erland, la "fata madrina" di Cinder, che scopre che è la Letumosi è mutata, finendo per attaccare anche i Lunari.

Questo è il mio volume preferito della serie, nonostante sia lungo ben 600 pagine, si legge con scorrevolezza. Cress e Thorne sono di gran lunga la mia coppia preferita del gruppo, e leggere dei due è stato sia divertente che appassionante.

RECENSIONE:

Alyssa Gardner fin da quando aveva dieci anni riusciva a sentire i sussurri dei fiori e degli insetti. Maledizione, o per gli altri malattia mentale, che ha colpito tutte le donne della sua famiglia, inclusa sua madre, Allison, rinchiusa da anni in un ospedale psichiatrico da quando aveva tentato di uccidere Alyssa.

In realtà, nulla è come sembra. Alyssa discende da Alice Liddell, che ha ispirato Lewis Carroll nel suo romanzo Alice nel paese delle meraviglie.

E Wonderland è vero. Solo che non è come nel libro. Grotteschi animali, fiori cannibali, e un Brucaliffo... irriconoscibile. Morpheus, questo è il suo nome, sarà la sua guida in Wonderland, insieme a Jeb, amico d'infanzia di Alyssa e suo amore segreto.

Per eliminare gli errori di Alice, Alyssa sarà sottoposta a dure prove, e scoprirà verità sul suo essere che non avrebbe mai sospettato.

Il libro può essere letto benissimo come uno stand-alone, anche se io consiglio l'intera trilogia, in quanto è deliziosamente dark. Lo stile della Howard è difficile, poiché molto dettagliato, quindi lo consiglio ai neofiti dell'0inglese in italiano, tradotto con il titolo "Il mio splendido migliore amico":

Uniche pecche le descrizioni degli ospedali psichiatrici, tirate troppo al limite, e il possibile insta-love e triangolo amoroso tra Alyssa, Jeb e Morpheus.

RECENSIONE:

Io già sono partita ridendo per il cognome della protagonista, e poi, considerato che gli altri libri della serie non mi sono piaciuti, mi sono messa a piangere. Ragazzi, io non capisco perché questa serie sia così overhyped. A me viene da piangere a pensarci. I protagonisti sono terribili, soprattutto quelli maschili, le ragazze sono marionette.

Davvero no.

Poi le bugie anche no in una relazione, la rovinano soltanto. Io penso solo che queste relazioni descritte dalla Huang siano tossiche. L'unica cosa che si salva sono le cover, davvero discrete e carine.

 Ciao a tutti booklovers, oggi si parla di "Alice in Zombieland" un libro di Gena Showalter, che è un retelling di Alice in Wonderland.

RECENSIONE:

Alice in Zombieland è diventato uno dei miei cult preferiti di Halloween. Alice Bell ha sempre avuto regole che le imponevano di non uscire di casa di notte, imposte da suo padre, considerato un pazzo.

La famiglia trasgredisce la regola per andare al saggio della sorellina Emma, ma passando accanto al cimitero è lì che tutti trovano la morte, eccetto Ali. Lei vede degli spiriti che divorano le anime dei suoi famigliari.

Dopo mesi, Ali si trasferisce dai nonni, ed è lì che incontra Cole Holland e la sua banda di teppisti. In realtà non sono neanche teppisti, ma cacciatori di zombie, ed Ali sta per entrare nella loro banda per vendicare la famiglia.

Lo stile della Showalter è troppo scorrevole e i capitoli si leggono con piacere. Certo, è pieno di cliché tra cui l'insta-love, ma il risultato è una lettura comunque godibile. Da non leggere se odiate l'insta-love.

RECENSIONE:

Ci troviamo in un futuro non specificato, dove umani e Lunari (alieni dalla Luna, o meglio, umani trapiantati sulla Luna con poteri) convivono... non in pace. Infatti, una piaga lunare, la Letumosi, imperversa sul pianeta, uccidendo molte persone. I Lunari, guidati dalla perfida Regina Levana, attendono di vedere i nemici indeboliti per conquistarli.

Se ben ricordate dal finale del primo libro, si scopre che Cinder in realtà è Selene Blackburn, la figlia della precedente regina lunare Channary e nipote di Levana. Per questo era immune alla letumosi.

Ora è stata dichiarata una pericolosa fuggitiva, ed è in carcere insieme a Thorne, un cadetto della Repubblica Americana che ha rubato una navetta. Insieme i due evadono.

Intanto, Scarlet Benoit si ritrova invischiata nei segreti di sua nonna Michelle, ex-pilota dell'aviazione europea, che riguardano proprio Cinder. La ragazza incontra poi Wolf, un combattente di strada, e i due si recano a Parigi per salvare Michelle, rapita dai Lunari.

Questo nuovo capitolo è ancora più avvincente del primo. Scarlet è una buona protagonista, ma quello che ha conquistato maggiormente il mio cuore è Thorne, troppo sarcastico e divertente. Kai si conferma però una bambola di pezza: solo verso il finale riesce a redimersi.

Attendo il terzo volume con ansia.

Sto leggendo The Ballad of Never After (amo profondamente Jacks, anche se è un antieroe) e Foul Lady Fortune di Chloe Gong, una lettura davvero top che mi sta piacendo moltissimo.

WHAT HAVE YOU FINISHED READING? (Che cosa hai finito di leggere?)

Ho finito di leggere Fire Study della Snyder che mi è piaciuto, anche se un po' datato; The Darkening di Sunya Mara, una lettura un poco mediocre; Demon in the Wood della Bardugo, triste ma fatto molto bene; Il Maestro e Margherita di Bulgakov, davvero top, e infine un saggio per l'università.

Mi butterò su Kingdom of the Feared della Maniscalco, finale della trashisshima Kingdom of the Wicked Series.

RECENSIONE:

Ci troviamo in un regno chiamato Ixia. Yelena è pronta per essere giustiziata per omicidio, ma le viene offerta una scelta. Morire o diventare un'assaggiatrice per il Comandante, rischiando comunque di morire. Yelena sceglie di diventare un'assaggiatrice. Tuttavia la giovane inizia a sviluppare poteri magici incontrollabili, mentre i ribelli minacciano di conquistare l'intera Ixia.

Sono consapevole che sia un fantasy del 2005, ma comunque è interessante notare come sia abbastanza interessante ed originale la premessa e l'esecuzione.

Yelena mi è piaciuta come protagonista, così come il suo love interest. Resto pronta per leggere il secondo libro
